The Rules for Roulette Wheel

Top casinos

The Roulette wheel has 37 or 38 numbered slots. The slots are from 1 to 36, plus 0 and 00 (American roulette wheel). Half of the numbers are red, and another half are black, while the 0 and 00 are green. All the numbers have pockets below where the ivory or plastic ball may land.

The roulette wheel is spinned up by the croupier and the ball spins in the opposite direction. The pocket where the ball lands is the winning one. All the players may bet not only on single numbers, but also on groups, color, on whether the number will be odd or even.

All the high and low, red and black, odd and even numbers are balanced on the roulette wheel. The standards for the roulette wheel are the same for all the casinos.

When the wheel starts losing its speed, the ball falls of the track where it was spinning and falls down until total stop. The ball lands totally randomly in one of the pockets which is ensured by lots of small buffers and bumps.

Main differences between two types of the roulette wheel is that the American wheel has a 0 and 00, while the European roulette wheel has only one 0. This difference increases house advantage in the American roulette wheel up to 5.26%. While the European advantage remains 2.7%.

In addition, players may use the en prison rule that allows them in case of a zero either to forfeit the half of outside wagers or to keep them for the next shot.

This rule makes the European roulette wheel even more attractive, decreasing the odds to 1.352 %.
